MSR Forefront: Raising Black Scholars forum

Mainstream education is centered in Whiteness and is taught by predominantly White educators. In an effort to resolve this, Minnesota Humanities Center (MHC) in partnership with the African American Leadership Forum (AALF) will host a virtual cultural education forum, “Realizing Wakanda: Educating and Nurturing the Brilliance of our Black Scholars (Students).”

Drawing from the histories of nonformal Black education, (Pp)an-Africanist scholarship, and critical qualitative research, this participatory ethnographic study documents an organic conception of public space where Black people, many of whom have been disaffected by traditional public schools, come to teach and learn with each other.
